Our association Tagaraga is recognized as a charitable organization for “Advancement of development aid and religion”. With the donations received, we finance projects in Mozambique which are being implemented by our German doctor Sina Scherf together with other volunteers on location.
We feel as if we were in a constant pioneering stage as we always seek effective ways to help and continue to learn through new challenges. Not everything we do can be directly expressed in the form of a project, the following things make up an essential part of our ministry: easing into the culture and language with love and patience, building relationships with the locals and authorities and gaining their trust. Whilst we gradually carry out short-, mid-, and long-term projects, we finance all necessary ongoing costs in order to implement our vision. For example…
…medical material and equipment for healthcare outreaches and to equip our health workers
…tools and material for building and maintenance of our buildings
…reliable vehicles, their fuel and maintenance
…teaching and training material for the educational projects
…everything needed for the care and accommodation for the trainees
…(oral) bibles in Portuguese and in the local dialect for distribution and multiplication
Our projects are mainly focused on the Carungo people on Inhassunge island, but are not exclusively for them. The current project planning and concept development has a certain flexibility for the purpose of networking, so that supporting outreaches can take place in surrounding nations where graduates of our training programs are involved locally. Training and education programs are repeatedly offered in Quelimane and other locations based on demand and availability.
Building projects on the missionary base

Here’s a glimpse into our situation: On our premises, there is a row of connected buildings for staff, which can accommodate three parties.

Yet, if it is hard to come by or only attainable after a tedious trek, it becomes invaluable and will only be used for the

Aid by Ambulance – by Air, Sea, and Land
Illnesses which require more complex diagnostics or therapy are transferred to Quelimane with a referral or, unfortunately, are sent directly back home, because the effort and the costs required cannot be managed by the family. Cases of (severe) trauma or complications in childbirth with the need of emergency interventions like a C-section or medical intensive

Mobile Clinics
For a number of reasons, many of those who are sick reach the hospital or the few available health posts on the island of Inhassunge only with difficulty, sometimes too late or not at all. The problems are multifaceted and not easy to solve: • Lack of suitable roads and sufficient (affordable) means of transport
